In what sounds like the plot of a Netflix docuseries waiting to happen, self-proclaimed âCrypto Kingpinâ Lance Verner, 32, was reportedly arrested in Miami after an argument with his wife spiralled completely out of control â all because of their $400,000 designer dog.
According to local reports, Verner â who made millions flipping NFTs and âdigital yachtsâ during the 2021 crypto boom â was taken into custody after neighbours called the police over what they described as âthe sound of someone trying to delete reality itself.â
Witnesses claim the argument started when Vernerâs wife, model and influencer Sienna Vale, threatened to âtake custody of the French bulldogâ during a fight about who actually paid for it. Things allegedly escalated when Verner shouted that heâd âmint the dog as an NFT so no one could own it.â
Police confirmed that Verner was arrested on suspicion of battery and released on bail later that evening. A spokesperson said, âNo dogs â digital or otherwise â were harmed.â
Naturally, the internet has gone wild. Memes of Vernerâs mugshot edited onto Bitcoin charts are flooding X (formerly Twitter), with one user writing:
âMan risked his whole portfolio over a pug with diamond chains đ.â
Meanwhile, Vernerâs management team insists the incident has been âblown out of proportion,â claiming the couple are âtaking time apart to reset their blockchains.â
No word yet on who got the dog. But one thingâs for sure â this story proves that even the richest of crypto bros canât escape real-world drama.
