In what sounds like the plot of a Netflix docuseries waiting to happen, self-proclaimed “Crypto Kingpin” Lance Verner, 32, was reportedly arrested in Miami after an argument with his wife spiralled completely out of control — all because of their $400,000 designer dog.
According to local reports, Verner — who made millions flipping NFTs and “digital yachts” during the 2021 crypto boom — was taken into custody after neighbours called the police over what they described as “the sound of someone trying to delete reality itself.”
Witnesses claim the argument started when Verner’s wife, model and influencer Sienna Vale, threatened to “take custody of the French bulldog” during a fight about who actually paid for it. Things allegedly escalated when Verner shouted that he’d “mint the dog as an NFT so no one could own it.”
Police confirmed that Verner was arrested on suspicion of battery and released on bail later that evening. A spokesperson said, “No dogs — digital or otherwise — were harmed.”
Naturally, the internet has gone wild. Memes of Verner’s mugshot edited onto Bitcoin charts are flooding X (formerly Twitter), with one user writing:
“Man risked his whole portfolio over a pug with diamond chains 💀.”
Meanwhile, Verner’s management team insists the incident has been “blown out of proportion,” claiming the couple are “taking time apart to reset their blockchains.”
No word yet on who got the dog. But one thing’s for sure — this story proves that even the richest of crypto bros can’t escape real-world drama.
