A young girl in Bristol is being hailed as a hero after a calm 911 call helped police rescue her from an unsafe situation at home.

According to officers, the nine-year-old — whose name is being withheld for privacy — quietly dialled emergency services after her mother began acting violently during what neighbours described as a “terrifying outburst.”

On the recording, the girl can be heard whispering, “Can you please come help me and my little brother?” before guiding dispatchers to her location. Within minutes, police arrived and got both children to safety.

Neighbour Alice Kemp told reporters:

“We just saw the blue lights and didn’t know what was happening. When we found out she’d made that call herself, everyone on the street was in tears. That little girl is unbelievably brave.”

Authorities confirmed that the children are now in protective care and receiving support from social workers. The mother has been taken for psychiatric evaluation.

The story has since gone viral, with thousands online calling the girl a “real-life superhero.”

  • “Forget capes — give this kid a crown.”
  • “Smart, brave, and calm under pressure. Absolute legend.”

A police spokesperson added:

“Her quick thinking quite literally saved her life. She stayed calm, gave clear directions, and did everything right.”

Moral of the story? Heroes don’t always wear uniforms — sometimes they’re just nine years old, holding a phone and a lot of courage.
