According to officials, the teacher — who’s not been formally charged — was removed from the classroom after a report was filed last week. Police have confirmed an active investigation is underway.

For many in the community, the news hit hard.

“She was one of those teachers everyone loved,” said one former student. “Always going above and beyond. No one saw this coming.”

The local school district released a short statement saying they’re cooperating fully with authorities and prioritising student safety and privacy.

“We understand how upsetting this is for families,” the statement read. “We’re working closely with law enforcement and will take appropriate action based on the findings.”

Parents gathered outside the school this week, some leaving flowers at the front gate in support of students who’ve been affected by the news. Others expressed anger and disbelief on social media, demanding answers.

“We send our kids to school to be safe — not to have to worry about this,” one parent commented online.

Police say no details will be released until the investigation concludes.

For now, Maple Ridge is left waiting — and hoping the truth comes out soon.
