The internetâs in disbelief after a mum from Liverpool reportedly chose to serve a short jail sentence rather than complete community service so she could âget some peace and quietâ away from her kids.
According to court documents, the 33-year-old woman â who was convicted of petty theft â was offered 80 hours of community service instead of jail time. But in a move that left even the judge speechless, she told the court sheâd ârather do the timeâ than deal with her âthree screaming nightmares at home.â
One witness said:
âEveryone just went silent. You could hear jaws hitting the floor.â
The woman was sentenced to 21 days in a local womenâs prison, where sheâs reportedly been bragging that itâs âthe first decent sleep Iâve had in years.â
Unsurprisingly, the internet had a field day with the story:
- âMum of the year? More like mum of the fear.â
- âImagine calling jail your spa retreat.â
- âSheâs about to get a Netflix doc called Orange Is the New Mum.â
While some people called her behaviour âdisgraceful,â others weirdly sympathised â pointing out how burnt-out single parents can feel when thereâs no support system in place.
As one commenter put it:
âItâs funny until you realise how many parents are on the edge. Still wild though.â
Moral of the story? Parenting is hard â but maybe donât pick prison over playtime.
