A terrifying moment turned into a story of pure bravery after a 15-year-old girl managed to alert police during what officers say was an attempted kidnapping in Birmingham this week.

According to reports, the teen was walking home from school when a man tried to force her into a car. Thinking fast, she used a safety app on her phone to trigger an emergency call and share her live location with police.

Within minutes, patrol cars were racing to the area. CCTV operators tracked the vehicle, and officers intercepted it less than five minutes later. The suspect was arrested on the spot.

Detective Inspector Carla Hughes praised the girl’s quick thinking:

“Her ability to stay calm and use the tools available quite possibly saved her life. She did everything right.”

Witnesses said the police response was “like something out of a movie” — lights flashing, officers surrounding the car before the driver even realised what was happening.

The teen is now safe at home with her family and receiving support. The suspect remains in custody pending further investigation.

Online, thousands have called the girl a hero:

  • “Smart, brave, and strong — absolute legend.”
  • “This is why every kid should know how to use emergency features on their phone.”

Moral of the story? Stay alert, trust your instincts, and never underestimate the power of quick thinking — and a fast police response.
