If you thought your work shift was stressful, spare a thought for this guy.
Police in Columbus, Ohio say a 23-year-old Target employee was arrested after allegedly sneaking out thousands of dollars’ worth of Apple products — all while being caught on bodycam the moment he was confronted.
According to the arrest report, Evan Miles had been working in the electronics section for six months when managers noticed inventory numbers weren’t adding up.
After reviewing security footage, they realised someone had been slipping iPhones and AirPods into a backpack during closing shifts.
When police arrived to question him, Miles apparently tried to act casual — right up until they asked to see inside the bag.
“He said it was just his lunch,” one officer said. “There were six iPhones and an Apple Watch in there.”
The now-viral bodycam clip shows the exact moment the officer unzips the bag and says, “That’s an expensive sandwich.” 🍎💀
Miles was arrested on charges of grand theft and employee fraud. The total value of the stolen goods? Roughly $4,000.
Target issued a statement thanking police for the quick response and reminding customers that “employee theft is taken very seriously.”
Social media, naturally, couldn’t resist:
“Bro risked prison time for store credit.”
“He really said: Think Different.”
Miles was later released on bond and reportedly told police he planned to “sell them to pay rent.”
The internet’s verdict? Not worth it.
