There’s “having a bad day at work,” and then there’s this.
A police officer in Florida has gone viral after being arrested for driving under the influence while on duty — and for calling his own fellow officers “a bunch of rats” during the bust.
Bodycam footage shows the officer slurring his words, insisting he was “just tired,” before pointing at the arresting cops and saying,
“You lot are rats — I trained half of you!”
The irony was apparently lost on him.
According to the department, the officer had been reported for erratic driving in a patrol car before being pulled over by his own unit. When asked to step out, he allegedly told them, “You can’t arrest me, I’m one of you,” which, as it turns out, is not a valid legal defense.
Social media’s been eating it up, with one commenter writing:
“The plot twist? He’s probably the one who wrote the DUI policy.”
The department has since placed the officer on leave, while the internet has promoted him to Chief of Poor Decisions.
As one viral tweet put it best:
“It’s not a thin blue line, it’s a blurry one.”
