A mother from Leeds has shared her heartbreaking story after her teenage daughter called the police, claiming she had been hit — only for the truth to shock everyone involved.
According to the mother, the 14-year-old had a typical emotional outburst at home, something the father usually handles calmly. His presence or even his tone is often enough to soothe her when she gets upset.
“When I saw the police at the door, my heart sank,” the mother told UNILAD. “I couldn’t understand why she would do this. I was terrified and so sad.”
Once the officers arrived and assessed the situation, it became clear that no one had been harmed. The daughter admitted it had been a tantrum, and that she often exaggerates situations when upset.
“It was a relief that no one was hurt,” said one officer, “but you could see how upset the mother was — this is the kind of thing that leaves emotional scars for everyone involved.”
The family hopes this story will serve as a reminder of the importance of communication and understanding children’s emotions. The mother added:
“I know teenagers are complicated, and sometimes their feelings overwhelm them. But seeing the fear in the eyes of my child and my own heartbreak when police arrived — it’s something I hope no parent has to experience.”
Social media users have expressed empathy for both the mother and the daughter:
“Teenagers really don’t know how their actions can spiral,” one comment read. “Glad everyone’s safe, but this is a tough lesson in parenting and patience.”
