A night out that began as a typical Tinder date quickly escalated into a chaotic encounter with police when a 22-year-old woman allegedly slapped her date and then attempted to provide a fake ID to authorities.
The Incident
Police say the altercation occurred at The Oak Lounge, a popular downtown bar. Witnesses report that the two had been drinking and appeared to argue shortly after arriving.
According to the police report, the argument escalated when the woman slapped her date across the face in front of other patrons. The man immediately called security and then police, fearing further violence.
Attempted Deception
When officers arrived, the woman reportedly handed over a driver’s license with a different name in an attempt to conceal her identity. Police quickly identified the ID as fraudulent.
“She initially tried to pretend she was someone else, which complicated the investigation,” said Officer Luis Herrera, who responded to the call.
Charges Filed
Authorities charged the woman with:
- Assault (misdemeanor)
- Providing false information to law enforcement (misdemeanor)
- Possession of a fraudulent ID (misdemeanor)
The man she slapped was not seriously injured and declined medical attention at the scene.
Community Reaction
Bystanders and bar patrons expressed disbelief at the turn of events:
“It went from awkward date to complete chaos in minutes,” one witness said.
“Honestly, giving cops a fake ID after slapping someone? That’s bold.”
A Reminder From Police
Officers emphasized that even minor assaults and attempts to deceive law enforcement can carry serious legal consequences, and they encourage dating app users to exercise caution when meeting strangers in person.
