A man wanted for multiple domestic-abuse complaints was arrested late Saturday after a chaotic brawl erupted in the lobby of the Lakeside Haven Hotel, according to police.

Authorities say 27-year-old Damon Keller had been under investigation for weeks after his girlfriend, Riley Monroe, filed reports alleging escalating verbal threats and controlling behavior. Officers had been attempting to locate Keller since he left their shared apartment without notice earlier this month.

He wasn’t hard to find Saturday night.

Hotel staff called police around 11:40 p.m. after Keller allegedly began shouting at a group of guests near the front desk, accusing one man of “spreading lies” and another of “trying to steal” his girlfriend — none of whom knew who he was.

When a security guard approached and asked him to calm down, Keller reportedly shoved him, sparking a brief but chaotic scuffle that knocked over a luggage cart and sent several guests scrambling out of the lobby.

Officers arrived minutes later and immediately recognized Keller from the active domestic-abuse case.

Witnesses say he tried to argue that he was the one being “set up,” but officers quickly took him into custody after he ignored commands to keep his hands visible.

The hotel’s front desk clerk said,
“It was like he was looking for a fight. Everyone just wanted him out of here.”

Keller now faces charges including assault, disorderly conduct, and violating a protective order, in addition to the ongoing domestic-abuse investigation.

Riley Monroe, who is staying with relatives, told reporters she feels “relieved and finally safe now that he’s in custody.”

A police spokesperson added:
“His arrest likely prevented someone from getting seriously hurt. We’re glad he’s no longer a threat to the victim or the public.”
