The internet has officially lost the plot over a wild viral video showing a man trying to run from police despite being on the sixth floor of a hotel, turning what should’ve been a standard arrest into pure comedy-horror chaos.

Police were called after a woman escaped a hotel room of a Quality Inn and alerted a hotel worker of a man that had kidnapped her. Once police arrive to the room the man tries to escape through the window of the room which was on the 6th floor. Even the police ask the man where he was intending to go.

The clip starts with officers knocking on the door of a hotel room during what appears to be a routine check. Nothing unusual. But the second the door opens, the man inside decides that today is the day he becomes an Olympic sprinter… completely forgetting he has nowhere to sprint to.

Instead of cooperating, he bolts straight across the room at full speed, leaving officers staring like they’ve just watched someone attempt to escape physics itself. The man barrels past the beds, past the desk, and heads straight for the balcony like it’s an exit to another dimension.

Viewers watching the clip say the best part is the millisecond where he realizes the situation he put himself in. He looks down, looks back, and you can practically see his soul leave his body as he processes the fact that he is six floors off the ground with no plan, no strategy, and definitely no wings.

Rather than launching himself into the air like a cartoon character, he tries to scale the balcony railing and shimmy to the next room. It goes about as well as expected. His foot slips, he panics, and he ends up clinging to the metal bars while officers rush out to pull him back to safety.

The cops don’t even look angry. They look tired. The kind of tired you get from dealing with someone who forgot how buildings work.

Once he’s back on solid flooring, he reportedly accepts defeat immediately, sitting on the carpet like a kid who just got caught doing something extremely dumb and now needs a minute to rethink his life choices.

Comments under the video are absolutely ruthless. Some people are calling it the least successful escape attempt in human history. Others insist they would pay good money for a body-cam documentary on nothing but this man’s decision-making process.

One thing everyone agrees on: if there were awards for the world’s most spectacularly pointless getaway, this guy just secured a lifetime achievement trophy.
