What started as a routine traffic stop quickly escalated when police say 35-year-old Clarissa Hayes tried to act casual while officers noticed “something off” about her behavior.
According to authorities, Hayes was pulled over for a minor traffic violation, but her body language immediately raised red flags. Officers report that she was fidgeting excessively, avoiding eye contact, and giving inconsistent answers about where she was coming from.
“She was clearly trying to act like she didn’t have a care in the world,” said one officer. “But we could tell she was hiding something.”
A search of her vehicle revealed several illegal substances concealed in unusual compartments, along with stolen merchandise from a nearby retail store. Hayes reportedly tried to play innocent, claiming she “had permission” and that the items “weren’t a big deal.”
Police say her attempts at charm and entitled arguments were unsuccessful. She was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property, possession of illegal substances, and resisting lawful detention.
A spokesperson for the department commented:
“Sometimes people think entitlement will keep them out of trouble. In our experience, it never works.”
