A 22-year-old woman from Eastbrook quickly discovered that charm and a perfect smile aren’t a legal defense when officers pulled her over Tuesday evening.
Authorities say Maya Reynolds was stopped for speeding, but the situation escalated when a routine check revealed she had an outstanding warrant. Witnesses report that Maya tried to flash her most innocent expressions, batting her eyelashes and insisting she “didn’t mean anything wrong.”
Officers say her attempts at persuasion were, unsurprisingly, unsuccessful. Maya allegedly continued to plead and joke with the officers, insisting that her looks should “count for something.”
After several minutes, she was taken into custody without incident. Police confirmed she faces charges related to the outstanding warrant and resisting lawful detention, though no physical confrontation occurred.
A police spokesperson commented:
“While some people think charm or appearances can get them out of legal trouble, the law doesn’t bend for anyone — no matter how convincing their ‘puppy dog eyes’ are.”
A bystander outside the station joked,
“She spent the whole time trying to look cute. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.”
