A 28-year-old woman was arrested early Sunday morning after being pulled over on Elm Street for suspected impaired driving. Authorities say the stop quickly revealed just how unsure she was about her own alcohol consumption.
According to the police report, Kara Benson admitted to having “a few drinks” at a nearby bar, but when asked how many beers she had consumed, she reportedly **paused, shrugged, and said, ‘I… honestly don’t know.’”
Officers noticed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and unsteady movements. After a field sobriety test, Benson was taken into custody for driving under the influence.
A police spokesperson commented:
“It doesn’t matter if someone thinks it’s just one or two drinks — if you’re impaired, you’re a danger on the road. Uncertainty about consumption is not a defense.”
Witnesses at the scene said Benson appeared confused and slightly embarrassed as officers escorted her to the patrol car. No accidents occurred, and she was transported safely to the county jail.
