You can’t make this stuff up.
A 24-year-old woman managed to slip out of her handcuffs after being arrested for DUI — and the wild moment has now gone viral across social media.
Police in Arizona say Kaylee Martin had been pulled over just after 1AM for erratic driving. After failing a breath test, she was handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car while officers finished processing her arrest.
But that’s when things took an unbelievable turn.
According to the police report, Kaylee somehow slipped her hands free of the cuffs, opened the door from inside the car, and made it about 30 feet down the road before officers caught her.
“She’s laughing, she’s running, and we’re just standing there like, ‘Is this really happening?’” one officer told reporters.
Bodycam footage shows officers shouting as they chase her down — and they were not amused. “You just made this a lot worse for yourself,” one of them can be heard saying as they re-secure the cuffs, this time behind her back and double-locked.
No one was injured, but Kaylee now faces additional charges for escape and resisting arrest.
The internet, of course, had a field day.
“Bro she unlocked side quests mid-arrest,” one person commented.
Another joked: “She’s the Houdini of hangovers.”
Police, however, didn’t see the funny side. “We take this seriously,” a department spokesperson said. “It could have ended very differently.”
