On a night when most people would run away from danger, one man ran straight into it.
Fousseynou Cissé, 39, is being hailed as a real-life superhero after risking his life to save six people—including two tiny babies—from the sixth floor of a burning apartment building in Paris on Friday, July 4.
The blaze broke out in the middle of the night, sending thick black smoke pouring through the upper floors. Without a second thought, Cissé climbed out onto a narrow ledge, perched six stories above the street, and began helping trapped residents escape.
In a now-viral clip, you can see him outside a smoke-filled window, waving and shouting instructions. He somehow convinced panicked parents to hand over their babies through the window. With one foot on the ledge and the other on a small balcony rail, he passed the infants to another apartment before turning back for the rest.
“I didn’t ask myself the question. There were lives at stake, I didn’t calculate,” Cissé later told a French news outlet. Pure instinct. Pure courage.
His bravery didn’t go unnoticed—he got a personal phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron, who thanked him and praised his actions. The city is also expected to officially honour him in the coming days.
People are calling him the “French Spider-Man”—but honestly, not even Marvel could write this one. 🕷🔥🇫🇷
