Police in are reviewing an unusual incident in which a cyclist attempted to stop and detain a law enforcement officer.

According to witness reports and video shared online, the confrontation began when the cyclist flagged down a marked police vehicle on [day]. Footage shows the cyclist standing in front of the vehicle and ordering the officer to stop, claiming he had the authority to detain members of law enforcement.

The officer reportedly exited the vehicle and instructed the cyclist to move out of the roadway. Instead, the cyclist continued making demands, insisting the officer was violating the law and needed to comply with his orders.

The standoff drew the attention of passersby, some of whom recorded the exchange. In one clip, the cyclist can be heard threatening to file charges against the officer, while the officer remains calm and reiterates that the cyclist had no legal authority to detain law enforcement personnel.

Police eventually moved the cyclist out of the road. No injuries were reported, and it is unclear whether any citations or charges were issued.

Authorities have reminded the public that only sworn law enforcement officers have the authority to detain individuals and that obstructing an officer can lead to legal consequences.
