Explorers in the Amazon rainforest captured footage of what experts believe is one of the largest snakes ever recorded in the region.

The group was traveling along a remote riverbank when they noticed movement in the undergrowth. Moments later, a massive snake — possibly a green anaconda — emerged from the dense foliage. Witnesses estimate the reptile measured several meters in length, though exact measurements have not been confirmed.

Video taken at the scene shows the snake moving slowly toward the water, its body partially submerged as it slipped away into the river. The encounter lasted less than two minutes, but those present say it felt much longer.

Local wildlife experts say such sightings are rare but not impossible, given the Amazon’s biodiversity. The green anaconda, native to the region, is considered one of the heaviest and longest snake species in the world.

While the group was unharmed, they described the experience as “terrifying and awe-inspiring,” adding that it was a reminder of the raw power of nature in one of the most remote areas on Earth.
