Authorities have arrested a 75-year-old individual after discovering 175 dogs living in a single residence.
Police say the investigation began after multiple complaints from neighbors about noise, odor, and concerns for animal welfare. When officers arrived to conduct a welfare check, they found dozens of dogs roaming freely inside and outside the property. Many were reportedly malnourished, dehydrated, and living in unsanitary conditions.
Animal control officers were called in to assist with the removal and care of the animals. The process took several hours and involved transporting the dogs to multiple shelters and veterinary facilities for evaluation and treatment.
“This is one of the largest cases of animal hoarding we’ve ever seen,” a police spokesperson said. “Our priority now is to ensure these dogs receive immediate medical attention and a safe place to recover.”
The 75-year-old suspect faces multiple charges, including animal cruelty and neglect. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed as evidence is processed.
Animal rescue organizations are working to rehabilitate the dogs and eventually place them into adoptive homes. Authorities have urged the public to consider fostering or adopting to help relieve pressure on local shelters.
